The problem with Hell Week isn’t that it is hell (it wasn’t, except for the weather), but that it is not a week. I’m still in the midst of interviews – so I will update once the process is all over. Like I said, for some industries – like consulting or investment banking – the interviews process does last only a week and ends with offers (or not…), but for other industries, technology included, the process is a bit longer. Oh well.

And in the meanwhile, to compensate myself for the East Coast weather, I spent a weekend in California, with prime sun and prime company:

Every time I come back from a place with weather like California (or Israel) I simply cannot fathom how people are even willing to live in a place like Boston, or the entire East Coast for that matter. It’s just so much better to be in the sun, no?
A weekend later, I went to NYC. Same prime company, unfortunately no sun:

Every time I go to NYC I’m reminded why I don’t like this city: it’s too big, crowded, noisy, dirty, expensive, with strange people and awful weather. But again, it’s not the place that matters, it’s the company, so I had a great time :)

And this weekend, in Boston… we had a snow storm! It snowed all day on Friday and was rather fun. Saturday was pretty gray but today (Sunday) was sunny and not even that cold.

And meanwhile in Israel…

Photo courtesy of my parents, who went to see windflowers (Kalaniot…) blooming in the south of Israel. Looks like spring!

This weekend is HBS Admitted Students Weekend for Round 1 admits and I’m looking forward to that. I volunteered to host an admit in my apartment for the weekend and to show my apartment as part of the housing tour. Should be fun. I’m also excited to meet one of the admitted students from Israel who’s coming.

Here’s what I wrote last year about my experience in the admit weekend. I think we’re in much better shape this year – the river isn’t frozen…

And as always, you can see the rest of the photos in my gallery:

Ok, so you made me jealous – but I’m going to post a link to your photos at http://www.find-mba.com as an encouragement to others. Seems you’re tapping into some well-earned down-time after burning the candle at both ends. Just goes to show that MBAs aren’t all work, work, work, though.

Greetings CS !!! I had to laugh, at the same time you’re talking about “Hell” week, you are flashing pictures of “Snow” storms. It couldn’t help but remind me of an old American saying “When hell freezes over” =)
Those interviews sound like quite a process, I’m confident there is a vast amount of education to be learned from just experiencing the process. Always an amazing thing is how much is learned outside the classroom.

Continued Good Luck, keep up the great work of your blog, but remember this…while you comment on the Boston weather…just think how boring it would be to live somewhere where the weather is always warm and the sun always shines…yet another saying “variety is the spice of life” Just think you’ve been able to experience the FULL beauty of 3 of the 4 seasons and soon within weeks the most beautiful season of all spring will be upon you!!! Enjoy, take care and keep safe, Andy

    Maren – thanks.

Andy – you’re so optimistic… but still, if these are my two choices, I’d prefer the “boredom” of having sunny days all the time :)
