Taking Good Trips

September 26th, 2007

I was in New York this weekend with an American HBS friend, celebrating Yom Kippur (or at least the end of it). I also got to meet my ex-boss (and HBS recommender) who recently relocated to New Jersey with his family. So that was a fun weekend – it’s nice to get out of town once in a while.
And speaking of getting out of town – this weekend is a long weekend here and I’m going on The Las Vegas Trek with HBS Hospitality Club – fun!
We have a packed schedule, including meeting key executives of the largest hotels in Vegas and back-house tours of the Wynn, the Venetian and Caesar’s. Oh, and two Vegas shows.
I’m not into gambling, but I am interested in the hospitality industry, so the trek seems like a good way to learn more about it and hang out with cool people from school.
And speaking of cool people – my Israeli VIP is currently in California, and will be joining me for the weekend in Vegas – so even more fun :)

Apart from that things are really taking off at school – it is very intense and I don’t get much sleep – but in a good way :) Last week was HBS club fair – we have about 80 student-clubs at school ranging from a Wine & Cheese club to a Venture Capital Club. You can see the list of all clubs here. I joined the marketing, women, Jewish, entrepreneurship, travel & hospitality and techmedia (technology) clubs, and they already keep me busy – more about it next time.

We get a lot of visitors in class, practically every day. As it’s currently the school trips season for prospective students, I’d like to refer you to my of my old posts (a classic, really) – Tips for a Successful Business Trip.

More to come soon…

[...] For instance, whoever said that an HBS MBA is all work and no play must not know CS, who’s headed to Vegas with the HBS Hospitality Club. Or take Stuart, who’s been tapping into his artistic side in the University of St. Gallen [...]

ADVICE and a COMMENT; When you are in Vegas, if you meet a guy named “OJ” run!!!!!!!

Comment, I can’t help but recall the time a MIT professor took some of his students to Vegas, it was a few years ago but I’m sure if you ask around you’ll find out what happened =)

On the serious side, Good Luck, Have Fun and Learn!
